Starting from Stavanger and cycling a selection of Ryfylke and the Ryfylke islands is a great experience that few have had the pleasure to do in 2 days. This is because the islands are hard to reach by public transportation in a time-efficient way.
The suggested route shown on the map below covers seeing Preikestolen from the sea (or if you add a day, cycle from Stavanger to preikestolen, do the hike to Preikestolen and join the ferry from Oanes), crossing a beautiful mountain, take a side road to see Rykanefossen, an impressive waterfall and then spend the night in Hjelmeland Spa Hotell. The next day join M/S Lyngøy for a 3 hour voyage through the spectacular Ryfylke islands on the way to Sjernarøy, a group of islands in the middle of Boknafjorden. While you cycle the islands and maybe stop to swim in the sea we will pick you up again and take you to Finnøy while you have lunch onboard. We wait while you experience this island (several routes are available) and then take you to Årdalsfjorden for the last leg onboard M/S Lyngøy. Now you can cycle along the fjord and pass through small villages on your way to Tau where you can take the bus back to Stavanger.
Day 1 is taking you over a mountain pass between Lysefjorden and Årdal on your way to Hjelmeland and starts with a climb from 0 to 652 meters above sea level. The height profile for day 1 looks like this:
Day 2 is mostly flat terrain by the sea.
This is a suggested route, you could easily vary the trip and make it shorter og longer - it is your choice. Please ask us, and we can assist in planning a unique trip for your group.
We can take a maximum of 12 passengers/cycles on board M/S Lyngøy.
